Church of St. Michael , Woolverstone, Celebrates New Facilities

Cambridge based Freeland Rees Roberts Architects have announced the completion of new facilities at the Church of St. Michael, Woolverstone, near Ipswich, Suffolk. The new facilities comprise a tea preparation cabinet and new lavatory, with a ringing gallery above. These were formally opened recently with a special consecration service presided over by the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, and well attended by friends and local parishioners.

LSI Architects Wins Global Design Prize for ‘Best Sustainable Development’ - Cley Marshes Visitor Centre

London and Norwich based LSI Architects has announced that the Cley Marshes Nature Reserve Visitor Centre, for Norfolk Wildlife Trust, has won an Emirates Glass LEAF Award 2008, under the category ‘Best Sustainable Development’. The £675k cutting-edge, sustainable Visitor Centre at Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s (NWT) Cley Marshes Nature Reserve, based on the North Norfolk Coast, has beaten stiff worldwide competition to be chosen as a winner of the prestigious award, one of the highest accolades in the architecture and design sector worldwide. The project was selected from over 100 international submissions.

LSI Architects Announces Completion of a £30M INTO international study centre at University of East Anglia

LSI Architects has announced that INTO University of East Anglia, a new £30M study centre for international students, based at the UEA campus in Norwich, is now completed and set to open its doors. The first of many world-class international study centres planned by INTO, this state-of-the-art centre provides new academic and teaching facilities with 415 new student residences comprising study bedrooms with ensuite facilities. The INTO University of East Anglia Centre is a joint venture between INTO and the University, providing a wide range of pathway courses for international students.

LSI Architects Announces Planning Submission for New Paston Sixth Form College

A full planning application has been submitted to North Norfolk District Council by Paston College to build new Sixth Form College facilities on the Station Road site in North Walsham, Norfolk. The new £20m College development will replace its existing, split-site facilities and provide a single site, purpose-built, high-quality learning environment for 16 - 19 year old students in North Norfolk. If planning permission is granted, construction is planned to commence in 2010 and the new college is expected to open in September 2011.

Major Expansion at UK’s largest State Boarding School completed

Norwich and London based LSI Architects has announced that the £6.75 million expansion scheme which provides new, Sixth Form boarding facilities at Wymondham College in Norfolk has been completed. Wymondham College is both the UK’s largest State Boarding School and one of the few State Boarding schools in the country, classified by the DfES as a ‘Successful and Popular’ School. Today, the building will receive the first of many distinguished guests, Hilary Moriarty, The National Director of the Boarding Schools’ Association.

RIBA  East   announces shortlist for the Manser Medal 2008

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) East today announces that two buildings in the East of England have been shortlisted for the Manser Medal, sponsored by The Rooflight Company: Accordia, Cambridge, by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Maccreanor Lavington and Alison Brooks Architects and Halligan House, St Albans, by Simon Conder Associates. The award is given for the best one-off house or major extension designed by an architect in the UK.

Major Conservation Work to Norwich Cathedral is Completed

Freeland Rees Roberts Architects have announced the completion of a major conservation project at Norwich Cathedral involving the conservation of the south elevation of the south aisle. The conservation project was made possible by the Friends of Norwich Cathedral (1.) who have provided substantial funding and by a £25,000 English Heritage grant secured by the Cambridge based architectural practice. A further £25,000 English Heritage grant for the Cathedral has also been secured recently for masonry and rainwater pipe repairs to be undertaken over the next year (2.) . This second phase project has also been heavily supported by the Friends of Norwich Cathedral.

Cambridge housing scheme Accordia is shortlisted for the RIBA’s prestigious Stirling Prize 2008

LSI Architects Announces Completion of Major Student Residence Scheme at University of East Anglia

London and Norwich based LSI Architects has announced the completion of a major (£28.5M) phase 2 student accommodation scheme at the campus of Norwich city’s University of East Anglia’s (UEA). This second phase provides 900 additional bedrooms in five blocks and follows the completion of the first phase student residences, Colman House. Also designed by LSI Architects, phase1 comprises 400 high standard study bedrooms with ensuite facilities within two blocks, including six fully accessible rooms for students with disabilities.

St Mary-le Tower Church, Ipswich Celebrates Completion of Works

Cambridge based Freeland Rees Roberts Architects have announced the completion of works to the principal parish church of Ipswich, St Mary-le Tower. Scaffolding has recently been dismantled from the church’s west front to reveal the splendour of the knapped flintwork and stone dressing elevations of the imposing church which boasts the tallest spire in Suffolk.

London and Norwich based LSI Architects is sponsoring an unusual exhibition of art work by Chapel Break Infant School from Thursday, 19th June – Saturday, 12 July at The Norwich Arts Centre. LSI Architects Receives Another Wave of Recognition in NAA Craftsmanship Awards

LSI Architects has announced today that four schemes designed by the Norwich and London based practice have been awarded Norfolk Association of Architects (NAA) Craftsmanship accolades in the 2008 Awards. The awards were presented on Monday, 28th April at the Annual Awards Ceremony at Ramada Jarvis International Hotel, Norwich. The awards were held in collaboration with the National Federation of Builders to recognise outstanding skills and craftsmanship by trades people, architects and building contractors in Norfolk. The high standards of craftsmanship that distinguish the Norfolk construction industry have been assessed by a panel of judges, chaired by the Norfolk Association of Architects. There were 7 award categories.

Perse Girls Announces Completion of Major Improvement Scheme

The Perse School for Girls in Cambridge has completed major improvements to its accommodation in Union Road. Refurbishment of Norwich Provisions Market by LSI Architects Secures Commendation

LSI Architects Secures Planning Approval for building development at Town Close House Preparatory School, Norwich

Norwich and London-based LSI Architects has announced that planning permission has been granted for a new build project at Town Close House Preparatory School, Norwich. Town Close House is a co-educational school for 500 pupils aged 3 to 13 years. It is situated between the Ipswich and Newmarket Roads in attractively wooded grounds close to the city centre. The plans are for a new multipurpose sports hall with integrated changing and office facilities, to be followed by the conversion of existing buildings to create a new performing arts centre. At some future date, the strategic plan for the site also includes the provision of a new dining hall.

Historic Cambridgeshire Church Celebrates New Community Facilities

Cambridge-based Freeland Rees Roberts Architects have announced the completion of a range of improvements to All Saint’s Church in Landbeach, five miles north-east of Cambridge. Designed by Freeland Rees Roberts Architects, the new community facilities include a North Porch extension which now provides level access, a lavatory and flower arranging amenities, including sink, worktop and cupboards. The heating system of the whole of the church has also been upgraded, with the new gas boiler accommodated within the new North Porch. As part of the project work, conservation and repairs including new pew floors were undertaken by the architects, along with upgrading of sections of the electrical installation.

Temple Bar Secures National RIBA Conservation Commendation 2006

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA East) has announced today that the ancient monument and Grade I listed building, Temple Bar, has been awarded the prestigious, national RIBA Conservation Commendation which forms part of the RIBA Awards 2006. The Temple Bar scheme was submitted for the RIBA Award 2006 by the City of London Department of Technical Services with Temple Bar’s Historic Buildings Architects, Freeland Rees Roberts who are Cambridge-based RIBA members.
